In 1995 the Personal Computer (PC) was beginning to became commonplace, and used as recreational tools in the home. Our Managing Director Mr. Kenneth Lam forecast that the computer world, in time, replace and tradition home audio system. Then he began to develop a 2.1 speaker system designed specifically for the PC. Besides, consumers expected that the product would need to be of 'life-style' and tiny but have exceptional sound reproduction. In 1996, we completed the first 2.1 speaker system, which had 2 satellite speakers and one wooden cabinet subwoofer. The product was groundbreaking since the speaker system was compatible with both home audio at home computer, such as computer multi-media, CD, VCD player, VCR and TV etc... Over the next few years the computer speaker system market matured. At the same time, DVD and MPEG-II Technology was beginning to reach the masses. Dolby Labs had already standardize the multi-channel system and were promoting the new digital surround system 'Dolby Digital' to instead of the Pro Logic Technology. Consumers were very interested in the 'Home Theatre' concept and those who could, invested in 5.1 speaker setups to enjoy the movies with multi-channel effects at home. Therefore, Mr. Lam started his market research to develop a 5.1 speaker system. Also the concept was called Human Acoustic Technology (HAT) and initial testing of the 'egg' shape satellite speaker proved so successful that was clear this innovative concept had immense versatility as well as sound performance. Home Theatre was becoming popular but most consumers thought they needed to equip several large floorstand speakers, so it was decided that a new brand and company would be formed dedicated to innovative audio excellence from discrete but beautiful and small zinc alloy satellite speakers using this technology. The name of brand would reflect the debut product and that of its designer; the 'Kenneth Lam Egg.' or said Klegg for short. In 1999, "Klegg" Audio was established a new brand in UK, Europe, Hong Kong and China; we were well underway with the development of new home theatre speaker systems. The brief was clear, speaker system should be user friendly, simply, life-style and have incredible sound to be innovative in its design. The Klegg M6 501 was launched in the Autumn of 2001 in London and was immediately recognised as a groundbreaking product. For the first time an audio company had taken the sub / sat concept and applied it in a contemporary form and managed to achieve exceptional sound quality. Also it was undisputedly one of the world's smallest and most effective home theatre systems available. Klegg continued to develop, in 2003 the more powerful M8 501 was launched featuring the 200Watts subwoofer, and larger 3" 100Watts zinc alloy satellites enclosure material that had become synonymous with Klegg. The M8 is now available as an upgraded dedicated 6.1 system - one of the few dedicated 6.1 systems available in the market today. Like the M6, the M8 turned heads wherever it was seen and quickly established Klegg as a true design innovator in the audio world. Due to customer demand, we have recently released of our first wooden speaker set the M12. Those are small 2-ways, bass reflex satellites with connected to excellent subwoofer system. Speakers not only provide exceptional sound but demonstrate the kind of build quality that Klegg customers have come to expect. The discrete teardrop shape cabinets were undergoes by high-gloss hand lacquering, in five unique colours will immediately feel at home in any environment. |
